Complementary Therapies for health, relaxation, and renewal.

Welcome to Rachael Alder Natural Therapies

Hello, my name is Rachael Alder. I have been working as a Complementary Therapist for over 20 years. I am a member of The Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). I love my job, making people feel better is what drives me.

My qualifications include:

  • Emmett Technique Practitioner
  • I have also completed the Emmett Woman’s Care Workshop
  • Massage Diploma
  • Reflexology Diploma
  • International Beauty Therapists Diploma
  • Reconnective Healing Practitioner

Massage has always been a firm favourite with my clients. In 2014 I qualified as an Emmett Technique Practitioner. This was after attending the Emm Tech short course, and being totally blown away by how effective it was at relaxing muscle tension. The results are often instantaneous and long-lasting. Emmett Technique is a great treatment on its own but also takes massage treatments to the next level. For this reason,I often combine the two to help with muscular aches and pains, discomfort in the head area, neck and shoulders, back, knees and ankles. It is also great for stress and tension, or if you are feeling generally ‘out of balance’.

Reflexology is also very popular. This deeply relaxing therapy can help if you are looking for support with an existing health condition, want to reduce stress levels, or need some ‘me time’.

I have attended various training days and courses learning different reflexology techniques. These techniques will be adapted to suit your individual needs.

As a Complementary Therapist I don’t compete with the medical world, but simply provide an alternative way that can complement the medical approach.

PLEASE NOTE:

My treatments should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. It is recommended that you consult your general practitioner for any health concerns.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy based on the theory that different reflex points on the feet or hands correspond with different areas of the body.

The Reflexologist aims to treat the whole individual by applying pressure directly to these points to bring about:

  • A state of deep relaxation for body and mind
  • To help stimulate the body’s natural healing processes
  • To help with general wellbeing

A Brief History of Western Reflexology

Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, China and India. In the early 1900s Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West. Known as zone therapy, he believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

In the 1930s Eunice Ingham developed zone therapy further into what is known today as Reflexology. Her belief was that tension or congestion anywhere in the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

The Emmett Technique

The Emmett Technique is a unique body relaxation therapy created by Ross Emmett. It is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissues of the body, and the therapist  may help relieve feelings of tensions, resulting in feelings of comfort within the body.

Symptoms that may be assisted–

  • Back and hip discomfort
  • Neck and shoulder restrictions and discomfort
  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Lymphatic and sinus congestion

...And much more!

How does Emmett work?

Emmett Points are believed to be small sensory receptors allowing access to the brain via the touch of the therapist. With the correct amount of pressure, the brain receives and evaluates this stimulus then produces a relaxation response in the soft tissue. There are receptor points all over the body, meaning the therapist can work on the area of concern.

The pressure used is not heavy or painful.

Treatments can be done with you lying down, sitting or standing. Light, loose comfortable clothing is ideal to wear for the treatment.

Massage

Massage treatment has been around for thousands of years. Using manual hands on movement and manipulation of the soft tissues and muscles of the body. Massage promotes healing and enhances a person’s overall wellbeing.

Massage works in various ways –

-It relaxes tired and tense muscles

-It improves circulation

-It increases joint mobility and flexibility

-It stimulates the lymphatic system

-It encourages the body to produce endorphins; the natural chemicals in your body that make you feel happy

Every massage treatment is based on each client’s varying needs, which will be discussed together before your treatment begins.

Massage treatments are tailored to suit the individual, and I offer a range of treatment lengths from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.

I use Songbird Massage Waxes as a massage medium. These are a blend of high quality 100% natural ingredients. They come in a range of gorgeous scents, or a non- scented and vegan option.

Reconnective Healing

Reconnective Healing is a highly evolved form of energy interaction that continues to advance our health, balance and quality of life. These new frequencies of healing first became known to the scientific community when discovered by Dr Eric Pearl.

Reconnective Healing is comprised of this new all inclusive spectrum of energy, light and information. These vibrational frequencies encompass the energy systems and benefits of all energy healing techniques, yet are accessible without complicated steps, procedures or rituals.

More often than not when a healing takes place it is usually addressing a combination of physical, mental and emotional issues all at the same time.

Clients lie fully clothed on the treatment table for 45 minutes. No two people have the same response, but they do often feel deeply relaxed and may experience pleasant feelings and sensations.
